Spring in the Developer Garden: Deutsche Telekom starts new developer platform
May 13th 2009
For the first time ever Deutsche Telekom has opened up its telecommunications services and now enables external developers to realize their own ideas in the Developer Garden on the basis of tried, tested and proven Telekom services. Europe’s biggest telecommunications corporation is therefore consistently continuing on its path towards open and cooperative service development.
Services made to order
The Developer Garden developer portal is the future first stop for developers and maintains interfaces of standard Deutsche Telekom services at the ready for setting up services for websites, applications and mash-ups. On the new community platform, programmers can further develop existing services according to their own visions and integrate them directly into the Web. In addition to typical services such as “Voice Call”, “Send SMS” and “IP Location”, the Developer Garden also prepares further services for interface openings. These include, for example, applications for billing and authenticating, as well as for teleconferences, etc.
For quick and convenient access to telco services the Developer Garden offers the perfect developer environment with SDKs (Service Developer Kits). The offering is complemented by detailed documentation and materials and an informative blog. The developer community use the Forums to discuss the latest ideas and innovations. This dedicated conglomeration of experts and Deutsche Telekom‘s specialists are therefore getting even closer and cooperating more and more all the time.
Innovation through collaboration
With the Developer Garden, Deutsche Telekom intends to become the central point of contact in Europe for designing and marketing comprehensive services together with the expert community. “The advantages for both sides are quite obvious. Developers benefit from using our services so quickly and easily. At the same time we are also significantly expanding our open and constructive dialog with the developer community,” says Thomas Mörsdorf, Senior Vice President Technology Management at Deutsche Telekom, Products & Innovation.
And the name says it all: fresh applications and creative visions blossom in the Developer Garden. What used to take months and years is now developed by clever programmers with just a few software code lines in days or hours. This is how the latest product solutions, which are promptly available to the users per mash-up, are produced.
The Developer Garden (www.developergarden.com) will grow continuously in the coming weeks and months with added attractive services with the opening up of further interfaces.
