It really depends on your specific M2M application. For most M2M applications with limited data rate, like smart meter, home security, 2G should be enough.
You may have another concern that 2G services are limited with the licenses. However in order to provide the best support to our customers Deutsche Telekom AG will keep providing 2G as long as it is required by our customers.
