The talk explains the change from simple onsite search solutions to automatically generated and aggregated contents platforms on the basis of search and NoSQL technologies.

In the process, knowledge becomes an essential part of automatic curation processes and shows its increasing role in the developing "Search without Links" paradigm of the large search results pages.

Examples are used to demonstrate the role that Open Source, and especially Apache Solr, semantic technologies, the Semantic Web and personalization procedures play in this process, and the direction in which the basic functionality of automated platforms will develop in the future.

TechTalk’s target group includes all software developers who are interested in tools and the future of software development.

The event is held at Deutsche Telekom AG, Products & Innovation in Darmstadt. Interested colleagues and external guests can register with a formless e-mail with their name/company to techtalk@remove-this.developergarden.com by August 13, 2011 at the latest. The event begins at 6.30 pm and ends at around 8.30 pm. Attendance is free and drinks and snacks are provided as always.

The speaker

Alexander Siebert (31) is the managing partner and prime mover behind Retresco GmbH, which he set up in 2008 with partners from the academic world and industry in Berlin. Previously he read computer linguistics and was a research assistant at the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences und Humanities, in charge of two major search technology projects. Alexander Siebert has written a number of academic publications, likes pythons and has three daughters.

Info for getting there and parking

You can use the visitor parking spaces at Products & Innovation. In T-Online-Allee 1 the entrance to the underground car park is at the end of the street (facing south – stay right at entrance), where you can report as a visitor for the TechTalk and use the signposted visitor parking spaces (follow the magenta arrows in the underground car park; then take the elevator to the first floor).
You will be shown the way into the forum at visitor reception.
