Unlike the omnipresent relational database model, graph databases focus on networked semi-structured information and its efficient management. As REST and hypermedia protocols are mostly used for both the client server operation and for distributed graph databases, cloud infrastructures step up to the base as ideal partners with scaling. Good and fast partitioning of graphs is, however, anything but trivial.

The presentation provides a brief introduction to the topic and an overview of the current practical solutions of different manufacturers – and those of sone GraphDB in particular.

The TechTalk target group focuses on software system architects and developers. The TechTalk will be held in German.

About the speaker:

Daniel Kirstenpfad, CTO, Sones GmbH

The three sones founders, Daniel Kirstenpfad, Mauricio Matthesius und Alexander Oelling, met at Ilmenau University of Technology, where they were involved in joint IT projects.

The idea for the sones database technology emerged at the beginning of 2005 because of dissatisfaction with the existing solutions on the market. The development focuses on controlling complex and unresolvable data storage and data handling problems. The three founders therefore developed a completely new database technology based on self-contained concepts.

Shortly thereafter the first functioning prototype came out in the form of a content recommendation system for a video community. The motivation booster was to develop a database management system that manages and structures data similar to the human brain.

Sones GmbH was set up in November 2007 with the objective of bringing innovative and efficient database technologies
